Janet's Books

I wanted to share the story behind these books. It's been such a massive undertaking and sentimental journey that I had to take some pictures along the way too.

Janet passed away a few years ago. She was a dear friend & my other mother. I have very fond memories of our fishing trips, concert trips and going out dancing years ago. Part of who I am is because of who she was. Helping my best friend with her mother's cherished book collection is an honor. I think she'd be proud of the gentle way that we are handling her books, recording each one and filing them in boxes wrapped in plastic. She didn't want her books to be dropped off at a used book store & reminded us that there were complete series that were years old but had never been opened.

Janet was sassy and had obsessive compulsory disorder. I would say it was "selective" OCD. She was the worst pack rat I've ever known but she had certain things that she was very particular about. Like don't use a whole paper towel & don't leave empty ice trays in the freezer. You couldn't see the top of her kitchen table but be very careful when using any of her fishing tackle.

She was an avid reader and her book collection was well taken care of as she was obsessive about that. She was a member of book clubs and received books monthly for years. She might open the box, read the books once, put them back in the box they were shipped in and stored them. She might open a box, not read the books and store them. Many boxes were never opened until now. Some of these go back to the 80's.
